Tackling regional skill shortages: from single employer strategies to local partnerships

This research examines regional skill problems and the strategies adopted to reduce shortages by a set of employers (n = 16). The data collected in 2019 northern region Portugal indicate considerable persistent engineering IT graduates non-graduates for operational jobs. implement anticipative interacting with education system, city council has developed multi-stakeholder partnership. However, most widespread strategy is remedial consists employer-provided training. Employers believe that partnership been fruitful way expanding economic activities, but further efforts are required alleviate shortages.
